Here’s the first official Video for the Vote NEVERDIE Campaign. I wrote the song a few years ago and got lots of great feedback from Gamers who felt that it was the anthem for avatars. When I decided to run for President of Virtual Reality the idea that my main message could be put across musically, made me realize it was time to finally make the Music Video. We Got footage at a live rehearsal of the Song and then shot Green Screen later so we could bleed into Virtual Reality. The Video directed by Victor “Bambuco” Buitrago Features Paul Inder Kilmister on guitar. who was also my co-writer and Produced the Song.
The Day we shot the Video Paul was also rehearsing Foxy Lady to Perform at his dad Lemmy’s 70th Birthday bash at the Roxy and so we got a few shots of Lemmys Virtual Castle and his Avatar to include in the Video. After Lemmys Birthday Paul was by his dad’s side everyday as Lemmy’s health rapidly deteriorated after completing his European tour.
The final scheduled editing day of the I Am My Avatar Music Video strangely fell on President’s Day, the same day that Lemmy was to be honored at the 2016 Grammys.
We Dedicated this Video to Paul’s dad Lemmy who was the first Music Icon to appreciate the Vision for the ROCKtropia Virtual Reality World and support our efforts, by inviting us to build his castle. Lemmy was a visionary and he saw the potential of Virtual Reality as a new medium for music culture early on. Lemmy was also well known for his Love of Monsters and Slot Machines. We are proud to say that Lemmy’s Avatar will live on forever at his Castle on ROCKtropia.
Synchronicity is always an indicator to me that I’m going in the right direction. I was invited to attend the Grammy’s with my great friend Paul Inder Kilmister, who has produced many of my songs including I Am My Avatar which is to be the official Video for the Vote NEVERDIE President of Virtual Reality Campaign… Paul’s father Lemmy Kilmister the frontman for Motorhead and a true Rock N Roll Icon Passed away suddenly in December. To me Lemmy was always, first and foremost my best friends dad and so one of my main focuses this last month has been to offer as much support as I could to Paul during this profoundly challenging time.
Lemmy has been an integral part of My Virtual World Rocktropia since the launch. NEVERDIE Studios had the enormous pleasure and Honor of building Lemmy’s Castle and bringing to life the Snaggletooth, Lemmy’s Iconic Logo. So it was fitting that we dedicated the I Am My Avatar Video to Lemmy, who will live on forever through his Castle and Avatar in Rocktropia.
Paul and I attended the Grammy’s together which fell on Presidents day, which I considered a good to Omen, to seethe Grammy’s pay tribute to Lemmy, honoring his huge impact of Rock N Roll with a rendition of the Ace of Spades by the Super Group “Hollywood Vampires” featuring Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Matt Soren.
It was great to be out with Paul and to be able to enjoy the tribute from the perspective of Lemmy’s family and smile at the Irony of Lemmy reaching such a gigantic audience after he has already left the building.
The Grammy’s asked Paul to Speak with the Press after the event and his genuine demeanor touched everyone and his criticism of the the sound mixing went Viral which reminded me of how alike Paul and Lemmy were. Despite being a guest of the Grammys’, Paul wasn’t there to pay lip service.
One of the Highlights on the Park City stage of the Vote NEVERDIE President of Virtual Reality Campaign trail was crossing paths on a couple of occasions with Riley Keough the beautiful Granddaughter of Elvis Presley. Check out her new Movie Lovesong to discover a true talent blossoming.
The Epic Hot Tub Summit lasted 3 Hours. With a number of Indie film veterans sharing stories with the first time feature filmmakers at Samdance.
Thanks to Dan Mervish and Peter Baxter for making it happen
The Vote NEVERDIE President of Virtual Reality campaign is now fully underway, Christmas is over and it’s time to get out into the world and explain to people why they need a President of Virtual Reality. So the first stop on the Campaign Tour is The Slamdance film festival in Park City Utah. Slamdance was co-founded by Dan Mirvish, Jon Fitzgerald, Shane Kuhn and Peter Baxter who were on a mission to shed light on Movies that People didn’t know they needed to see. Fortunately for the World over the years Slamdance was there to discover among others; directors Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity), Benh Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), Lynn Shelton (Your Sister’s Sister), and Lena Dunham (Girls). Slamdance also attracts renowned alumni including Larry Clark, Steven Soderbergh and Johnathan Demme.
I started making movies in 1985 and made 11 short films, some of which played at major international film festivals including Cannes. I made my first indie feature films in 1992 and spent the next decade working with passionate indie filmmakers. Getting those Movies made was always a miracle, but marketing them was the true mountain to climb. So I have the utmost respect for the founders and staff of Slamdance who provide an important platform in the all important process of getting films out into the world
My alter ego NEVERDIE was first born in a screenplay I wrote called Role-Player back in 1999, the story was inspired by all the late nights I had spent playing single player RPG’s like Wizardry, Ultima and Bards Tale and the first ever MMORPG’s Ultima Online and Everquest. While I was trying to get the film off the ground I heard about (Project Entropia) Entropia Universe which was very much like the virtual World envisioned in my screenplay. I created my Avatar Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs in thefirst public Beta in 2002 and over the next 10 years much of what I had written in my screenplay came true in Reality. In 2008 I started NEVERDIE Studios to create Music and Movie destinations in Virtual Reality. In 2011 NEVERDIE Studios Partnered with NBC Universal and we Produced Hunt The THING a Virtual Reality adventure to coincide with the release of the movie The THING. In 2015 in Partnership with Universal we released a Virtual Reality KING KONG trilogy that introduces ZOMBIE KONG that has been a great success in ROCKtropia and a driving force in the continued growth of the POPtropia Virtual World.
Coming from a humble indie film background it has been a real thrill to work with a Major Movie Studio such as Universal on Iconic titles like KING KONG and the THING and I feel that Movies will continue to be an integral part of the growth of Virtual Reality, infact most of us probably want to live in Virtual Worlds that originated in movies.
Another good reason to Vote NEVERDIE for the President of Virtual Reality.
So here we go, I’m officially launching my campaign to run for the President of Virtual Reality. First order of business is to get amazing artwork to capture the spirit of the campaign, so I’m really thrilled to be launching a creative Invite through Talenthouse.
I’m also working with my team on “I Am My Avatar” which will be the first official Vote NEVERDE Campaign Video. We’ve also chosen the following Hashtags for the Campaign; #VoteNEVERDIE, #BILLIONJOBS and #IAMMYAVATAR and #BTKK If you get inspired start sharing or Rise Up and join the team and and we can work together to build the grassroots movement.
